Lindsay Simons

London-based artist Lindsay Simons has had a lifelong passion for painting. Images of women are at the heart of her process, taken either from old master paintings or using herself, friends and family as subjects. Her paintings explore themes of female agency, power and identity. Using oil on canvas or found materials Simons creates works that combine finely detailed figurative painting with passages of abstract painting or repeat patterns that conceal or reveal the image. Simons has a degree in Fine Art from Staffordshire University and an MA from Birmingham Institute in 1997. She has exhibited in London, Paris and the USA. in 2011 her portrait Vermeer and Me was purchased by the Ruth Bourchard Collection and exhibited at the Kings Place Gallery in London. In 2024 Simons was invited to make a painting referring to the classical muse from Greek mythology. Her painting Euterpe Emily was shown in a group exhibition as part of the Oxford Arts Festival and curated by Ruth Millington.
